A woman who was critically injured and later died from a gunshot wound as protesters stormed the US Capitol has been named.
Ashli Babbitt, from the San Diego area, was a 14-year veteran and a pro Trump supporter, according to her husband.
Kusi News reports Ashli served four tours with the US Air Force and was a high level security official throughout her time in service.
The news outlet, who claim to have spoken to her husband, says she was a strong supporter of President Trump and was a great patriot to all who knew her.
The Metropolitan Police Department says an investigation into her death continues.
US media claim Ashli was shot in the neck during the protests which took place on Wednesday.
Crowds broke through barricades surrounding the building, which houses both the House of Representatives and the Senate, where journalists, politicians and staffers were at the time.
It is not yet known who fired the shot that appeared to hit the veteran, according to law enforcement agencies.
All buildings within the Capitol Complex were placed into emergency lockdown and the Senate was evacuated. The area was declared secure at around 11pm GMT.
