How clean is YOUR hotel? TikTok influencer uses UV light to expose how hygienic his Travelodge really is
- Rob Adcock filmed the video as part of a series on hotel cleanliness
- He previously got scabies from a recent stay in a hotel
A TikToker has filmed a video showing the shocking amount of stains, including blood, within their Travelodge room thanks to the use of UV light.
Rob Adcock, a TikToker from Staffordshire, filmed the video in Glasgow earlier this week as part of his series of videos to highlight hotel cleanliness.
The video, which is almost two minutes long, consists of Rob showing disgusting stains littered throughout the room, highlighting just how dirty hotel rooms can be without guests even knowing.
Rob decided to make the video after stopping at a hotel in Luton a number of weeks ago and catching scabies from his stay there, and so wants to hold hotels accountable by recording future stays for his TikTok.
His content usually specialises in travel tips and tricks, from how to beat airlines’ baggage policies, to budget holidays, and his videos have racked up a total of 1.2m likes.

Rob, who filmed the video with a friend, couldn’t help but laugh, scream. and gasp in horror as his UV light uncovered an incredible amount of dodgy-looking stains around the room, particularly on the mattress.
Marks were also on the headboard of the beds, and Rob can be heard saying ‘Look at that! It’s right next to your head.’
He also uncovered peculiar stains on the walls and the bottom of the room’s door, leading Rob to exclaim ‘I don’t know what that is! What the hell is that?’
After showcasing the marks around the room, Rob and his friend pull off one of the bed’s duvet to reveal the mattress, showing a large number of stains that varied in size.
Blood was even visible on the mattress, and there was a large stain at the foot of the bed that Rob called ‘a puddle.’

Rob was so excited to post the video he edited and recorded the voiceover for it on his train from Glasgow to Crewe
Rob said: ‘I started doing the series as, I suppose, it’s a campaign to highlight hotel cleanliness. I stopped in a hotel in Luton a few weeks ago (as part of the football videos I make) and caught scabies!
‘So from then on in, I decided I wanted to do something about it.
‘I was really shocked with this one. The UV light really does show so much more than the naked eye.
‘As you see in the video and hear from my reaction – the state of this mattress in particular is minging.
Rob mentioned that although it’s difficult for hotels to keep up their cleanliness with so many rooms, it was clear to him that particular room hadn’t been cleaned in a ‘decent amount of time.’
