Man charged with murder of three-month-old baby found dead at house almost three years ago
A MAN has been charged with the murder of a three-month-old baby found dead at a house almost three years ago.
The little boy had suffered a "catastrophic" head injury and was pronounced dead in hospital two days later.
Police said paramedics discovered the tot in cardiac arrest at a house in the Stoke area of Coventry on the morning of June 29, 2018.
James Scott, who knew the baby, was arrested at the time but was later released while officers carried out their "complex and extensive" investigation.
But yesterday, Scott, from Coventry, was charged with murder.
He appeared at Coventry Magistrates Court where he was remanded in prison ahead of his next appearance at Warwick Crown Court on April 27.
A force spokesperson said: "We’ve charged a man over the death of a baby at an address in Coventry almost three years ago.
"The boy − who was aged just three months − was found by paramedics in cardiac arrest at a home in the Stoke area of the city on the morning of 29 June 2018.
"The baby had suffered a catastrophic head injury and was pronounced dead in hospital two days later.
"We arrested James Scott − who knew the child − at the time but he was released under investigation while complex and extensive enquiries were carried out.
"But yesterday (23 April) Scott, from Coventry, was charged with murder."
