Kate Middleton has "evolved" as a member of the Royal Family as she begins her 40s, according to a body language expert.

The Duchess of Cambridge celebrated her 40th birthday on Sunday, and released some stunning brand new official photographs to mark the occasion.

In the snaps Kate can be seen sporting different Alexander McQueen dresses as well as jewellery belonging to both the Queen and Princess Diana.

And now body language expert Darren Stanton has taken the latter comparison even further, saying that she displayed "similarities to Princess Diana" in how she has skilfully taken on the responsibilities of being a Royal mother, reports The Mirror.

He also likened her to the late princess in how she has connected with the public as a "relatable" mum, with motherhood establishing a solid role for her within The Firm.

Mr Stanton added: “Her maternal instinct is often displayed through her body language, which too has evolved as she’s got older.

“In many photos and video clips, Kate is seen kneeling down to the height of her children when she is talking to them – a gesture that is both nurturing and protective."

The body language expert also praised Kate for having the courage to discipline her children in public settings.

On the other hand, she is also distinctive as a royal mum for showing positive reinforcement to kids Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis when out and about, which follows in the footsteps of Diana.

In recent months, Kate and others have stepped up in the absence of the Queen following her health scare last year, which prompted Her Majesty to have a lighter schedule.

The Duchess of Cambridge also took centre stage this Christmas by hosting the Royal Carols: Together At Christmas concert that was broadcast on ITV.

Kate wowed royal fans by duetting with singer Tom Walker, accompanying him on a song at Westminster Abbey.
