Aldi shopper spotted wearing astronaut helmet in store to shield from Covid

An Aldi shopper shocked fellow buyers on Tuesday by wearing an astronaut helmet to protect himself during a supermarket shop.

The man, who was seen in Hartlepool, chose to wear head wear instead of a mask to the store off Brenda Road to protect from Covid.

Eagle-eyed supermarket shoppers took a picture of the man, who was wearing the large white and blue helmet.

In the snap, the man can be seen looking around in the meat isle as someone next to him wears a blue mask.

According to TeesideLive, the man got a few funny looks from fellow shoppers as he wandered around the aisles with a trolly.

He even eyed up bargains through the glass visor, an eyewitness said.

The man’s choice of protection may be considered extreme but it puts to shame those spotted flouting restrictions in the background of the picture.

One woman can be seen grabbing something off of the shelf smiling without a mask while a second can be seen bending down grabbing food without one.

Posting the picture online, the shopper said: "I've seen it all now.

"It's actually a good idea though!

"Hopefully no Covid is getting in there!"

It is now illegal for the majority of people to enter a supermarket in the UK without wearing a mask.

The Government has said anyone with a medical condition that may prevent them from wearing one can be excused, which has led people to abuse the allowance.

England is now facing a threat to the NHS that the Prime Minister said on January 4 it would not be able to ignore.

Brits have since been plunged into a lockdown similar to the first when the pandemic begun as cases, and deaths, continue to skyrocket.
