Dish Restores NFL Programming Just in Time for Sunday Games

The National Football League and Dish Network Corp. reached an agreement to restore NFL games to the satellite-TV provider’s services, just in time for the first Sunday games of the new season.

Dish and NFL Media announced Sunday that they’ve reached a new carriage agreement for NFL Network and NFL RedZone, restoring both networks to Dish TV and its Sling TV online service.

The programming was removed from Dish’s services in June after it failed to agree with the NFL on contract terms. Football was also temporarily blacked out on Dish last year as part of a contract dispute with Fox Corp.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding as we worked through the negotiations,” Andy LeCuyer, Dish’s senior vice president of programming, said in a statement.

Dish’s shares have fallen about 9.5% since the beginning of the year, closing at $32.11 on Sept. 11.

Lee, 29, had earned her spot in the three-way playoff at Mission Hills in Rancho Mirage, California, with a chip-in for eagle at the 72nd hole – her third chip-in of the round.

World number 94 Lee carded a five-under par 67 for a 15-under total of 273, while Korda and Henderson, who shared the overnight lead, both posted final-round 69s.

Walmart joins Microsoft's bid to buy TikTok

New York (CNN Business)ByteDance will not sell TikTok’s US operations to Microsoft, according to Microsoft.

“We are confident our proposal would have been good for TikTok’s users, while protecting national security interests,” Microsoft (MSFT) said in a blog post. “To do this, we would have made significant changes to ensure the service met the highest standards for security, privacy, online safety, and combatting disinformation, and we made these principles clear in our August statement.”
ByteDance has not responded to a request for comment. TikTok did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

    Multiple analysts had described Microsoft’s pursuit of TikTok as a potential “coup” for the Washington state-based firm — an opportunity to scoop up one of the world’s fastest growing social media platforms at a time when TikTok may be desperate to make a deal.
    A deal could have also included an American retail giant: Walmart (WMT) was also participating in negotiations with Microsoft over a potential deal.

      Walmart said its interest in TikTok stemmed from the way the app has “integrated e-commerce and advertising capabilities in other markets” and could bolster its access to consumers.

      Microsoft rejected, Oracle wins bid for TikTok’s US operations

      Microsoft’s bid to purchase TikTok’s US operations was rejected, the company announced Sunday, with Oracle reportedly winning the bid to help run the popular social media app in the states.

      The deal between Tiktok’s Beijing-based owner ByteDance and Oracle is not believed to be structured as an outright sale, a source told The Wall Street Journal.

      Instead, the software giant is set to be the app’s “trusted tech partner,” in the US, the report said.

      ByteDance had been in negotiations with Microsoft and Oracle since August when President Trump issued an executive order banning TikTok if a deal was not reached mid-September.

      A separate order Trump issued Aug. 14 gave ByteDance 90 days to divest the app’s US operations, suggesting that it had until Nov. 12 to find an American buyer.

      Microsoft earlier Sunday announced in a statement they were out of contention.

      “ByteDance let us know today they would not be selling TikTok’s US operations to Microsoft,” the company said.

      “We are confident our proposal would have been good for TikTok’s users, while protecting national security interests.”

      Trump and other US officials have expressed concern that TikTok would sell user data to their government, but the Chinese-based company has insisted that’s not the case.

      Oracle Wins Bid For TikTok, Beating Out Microsoft For U.S. Operations Of Popular Video App

      TikTok has found a new home. Oracle Corporation has won the bidding war for the popular meme-making, video-sharing app TikTok. The company beat out Microsoft who was also in the running to take over U.S. operations of the app.

      According to the Wall Street Journal, Oracle will be announced as TikTok’s “trusted tech partner” in the U.S. However, it won’t be structured as an “outright sale”. Microsoft was notified of the decision on Sunday ByteDance Ltd, the parent company of TikTok.

      Oracle wound up being the favorite in the pursuit of TikTok in large part because its founder, Larry Ellison, is a strong supporter of President Donald Trump.

      Walmart had joined with Microsoft for a bid last month in a move that surprised Wall Street. Most analysts had expected Microsoft to prevail.

      Trump had imposed a September 15 deadline for the deal to happen. When negotiations were complicated by technical aspects of disentangling TikTok’s infrastructure from ByteDance’s, the notion of extending the deadline surfaced but Trump last week insisted on holding firm to the date.

      With 100 million users and nearly nine-fold growth since 2018, TikTok is one of the fastest-growing tech companies in recent times. It has branched out from its initial sweet spot of dance videos to become a factor in recent protests against racial injustice. It also was a key vehicle in a scheme to portray a Trump rally over the summer as better-sold than it wound up being.
