Woman in her 30s gunned down on London street
A woman in her 30s was rushed to hospital after being shot in the street on Friday night.
It is not known how seriously she was injured and no arrests have been made yet.
The incident happened in Maida Vale, West London, shortly before midnight, Met Police confirmed in a statement.
A cordon has been put in place as forensics officers investigate the shooting.
It is the latest in a string of gun crime incidents to shake the capital.
In July, there were 40 shootings in London, compared to 24 for the same period in 2019.
On Wednesday hundreds of armed officers raided a travellers site in south-east London in one of Britain’s biggest ever suspected gun crime stings.
The operation involved the country’s most highly trained police marksmen, including Scotland Yard’s elite Counter Terrorism Specialist Firearms Officers.
Police used stunt guns, known as flash-bang distraction devices, before swarming onto the site in Orpington at around 3am.
A number of people suspected of supplying weapons to criminal gangs were arrested.
The operation was sparked by an increase in firearms incidents across London in recent months.
