Teenager, 16, stabbed to death in London street as MP ‘devastated’
A teenager was stabbed to death in Walthamstow today, a Labour MP has said.
Announcing the devastating news this evening, Walthamstow MP Stella Creasy said a young man, aged 16, was murdered on Markhouse Road.
She shared a report from the Metropolitan Police that said the suspect was on the run.
The police service said that they received a call today from an “unknown male” stating someone was stabbed “by a large knife”.
The report added that the suspect had “run off” from the scene at 118 Markhouse Road, E17.
Officers found an attended to a 16-year-old boy who was s”uffering from a stab wound to his chest”, and delivered first aid before helicopter emergency services (HEMS) arrived on the scene.
They added that the boy died, and said the incident was being treated as a murder.
The report concluded: “A Police cordon will remain in place at this location to allow for forensic examination of scene which may cause some local disruption.
“The road is currently blocked off from Lea bridge J/W Markhouse Road. Buses are on a diversion.”
The Met said that no arrests have yet been made in connection with the incident.
