Sussex fans have rallied around Meghan Markle after Princess Diana’s former butler doubted her attendance to the King’s Coronation. One supporter said the Duchess, 41, would be doing the “right thing” if she turned down the invitation to the historic event, commending her for being “brave”.

Paul Burrell, who served as Diana’s butler for 10 years, believes Harry will attend the coronation on May 6 without his wife or children, accusing Meghan of not being “brave” enough.

The date holds extra significance for the California-based family-of-four – as it will be Prince Archie’s fourth birthday.

The Sussexes, who live in A-list enclave Montecito, are yet to publicly confirm if they will attend.

Defending Meghan, user @LadyB_2210 wrote: “Meghan did the right thing. Why let the UK haters slaughter her? She’s blamed for everything. She is brave.”

Another simply said: “Whatever their decision, I support them!”

Another with the name @emily82574519 said Harry should stay in the US and “celebrate his son’s birthday”, adding that “it would be the best way to honour his mum by not going to the s**t show.”

But not all fans agreed, with one with the name @Olga03713154 writing: “So the coward can’t face the music!”

A separate Twitter user, @ATTITUDESWAT, weighed in on Burrell’s claim, writing: “Because she knows what the Royal Family thinks about her and what the British population thinks about her and her phoney facade.”

Earlier this month, a spokesperson for the couple said: “I can confirm the Duke has recently received email correspondence from His Majesty’s office regarding the Coronation.

“An immediate decision on whether the Duke and Duchess will attend will not be disclosed by us at this time.”

Burrell told Closer Magazine: “It’s likely to be incredibly uncomfortable for them if they attend, particularly Meghan. Are they prepared to face the music?

“I don’t think Meghan’s brave or strong enough to be there – she’d have to look in the eyes of a family she’s pushed under a bus.”

He added: “I think Harry may come alone and she’s probably told him she won’t be able to be by his side with him if he does attend.”
