Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are “shopping for a family home” in time for the arrival of their first child, which is due later this autumn. Speaking to Palace Confidential on Mail+, royal correspondentCharlotte Griffiths said that the royal couple had looked at a property in Woodstock, Oxfordshire with “many bedrooms, a pool and a party barn.”

The newly-weds have been spotted house-hunting at a £3 million property in the Cotswolds countryside. Sources have said that Princess Beatrice is keen to get a family home as soon as possible, to prepare for the arrival of their baby.

Princess Beatrice and property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi currently reside in St James’s Palace in London. The Duke of York’s eldest daughter formerly shared the apartment with her sister Princess Eugenie.

The couple announced they were expecting their first child on May 19, 2021.

Buckingham Palace released a statement saying, ‘Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in autumn of this year. The Queen has been informed and both families are delighted with the news.’

The child will be the Queen’s 12th great-grandchild and will be 11th in line to the throne.

Princess Beatrice married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in a secret ceremony last July, after initially delaying their wedding due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The service took place at the Royal Lodge in Windsor and was attended by a small group of close friends and family.

Both the Queen and Prince Philip were in attendance and posed for photographs with the bride and groom.

Princess Beatrice wore a vintage Norman Hartnell dress which was loaned to her by the Queen. This was accompanied by the Queen Mary’s Fringe Tiara which the Queen herself had worn on her wedding day to Prince Philip.

Known as Edo, the property tycoon proposed to Princess Beatrice during a holiday in Italy with a diamond and platinum engagement ring.

The couple have been in a relationship since October 2018 but had been acquainted for several years through their parents.

Princess Beatrice is also a stepmother to Edoardo’s son from a previous relationship.

Royal commentators were quick to speculate over the timing of the couple’s announcement. The statement was released the same day as Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s third wedding anniversary.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed that they were expecting their first child, son Archie Harrison, during the wedding reception of Beatrice’s sister, Princess Eugenie.

Princess Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank, her partner of seven years, at St George’s Chapel on October 12, 2018. The celebration took place five months after the wedding of her cousin Prince Harry to Meghan Markle.

Since then, both royal couples have gone on to begin families. Princess Eugenie welcomed a son, August Philip in February 2021.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are parents to two-year-old Archie and are currently expecting their first daughter, who is due to be born this summer.
