Prince Harry’s ‘delight’ as he’s presented with huge cake at Invictus Games

Prince Harry is wished a ‘Happy Birthday’ at Invictus Games

Prince Harry was presented with a giant cake at the Invictus Games on his 39th birthday.

The Duke of Sussex last night was seen at a German restaurant with Meghan as part of the celebrations and today he was given a large cake to mark the occasion.

This comes after the now-39-year-old was pictured with Veterans’ Minister Johnny Mercer at the athletic competition for injured servicemen and woman.

The Prince and Mr Mercer could be seen quaffing beers as they watched the action. Meghan did not appear to be drinking.

The Prince appeared taken aback as the crowd inside the arena in Dusseldorf began to sing happy birthday to him.

After which he came down to receive his cake from the Games’ mascot.

The cake was themed on the event and included a figurine of the Duke, a dumbbell and a ball, all seemingly made of icing. Prince Harry had a cheeky grin on his face as the cake was revealed.

The crowd went wild for the presentation, with those around the arena pulling out their phones to capture the moment.

The celebrations come against a the backdrop of royal controversy, as the Royal Family chose not to wish him happy birthday on social media.

The Firm took to Twitter to praise Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh who visited Wiltshire today, but swerved Prince Harry’s big day.

A royal expert claimed the recent trend on social media is for the Royal Family to only share a birthday post for the main working members of the family.

Christine Ross told “This creates a clear, easy boundary for the social media posts and eliminates any uncertainty on who will or won’t be wished a happy birthday.”

But the expert believes the Family may have reached out to him privately.

She said: “I expect calls or texts will be exchanged between Prince Harry and his family on the day, but the Royal Family is clearly trying to keep their relationship and interactions with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex private and behind closed doors for the time being.”
