Two years ago, Harry, 37, and his wife Meghan Markle, 40, released a statement outlining their intention to step down as senior royals to carve out a new life in North America. Following this, members of the Royal Family gathered for crunch talks on the Duke’s future in what became known as the Sandringham Summit.

Harry joined the Queen, his brother Prince William, and his father Charles to negotiate his and Meghan’s exit from the Firm.

After which, Harry and Meghan moved to Canada with their son Archie, who was less than one-years-old at the time.

Later, the family moved to Santa Barbara, where they’ve since welcomed a fourth family member – baby Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana, who was born in June.

The couple, who announced their intention to become “financially independent”, has since signed a number of partnership deals with streaming giants Netflix and Spotify, and also undertaken philanthropic work through their Archewell foundation.

However, more than 30 years ago, a young Duke of Sussex made seemingly off the cuff which appears to foretold his future with the Royal Family.

From a young age, both Harry and his older brother appeared to have been very much aware of their differing futures.

As the eldest child of the Queen’s eldest son, William will one day be King, while it’s likely that over time Harry will slip down the line of succession.

The Duke of Sussex is currently in the sixth spot, behind Charles, William and William’s three children.

Aged just four at the time, Harry is said to have made a shocking outburst directed at his older brother that eerily predicted his future.

The comments made by young Harry came amid a squabble between him and his brother while travelling from London to Gloucester for a weekend.

The incident was overheard by Ken Wharfe, a long-serving protection officer to the royals, who was dismayed by what he heard.

Mr Wharfe detailed the incident in the Channel 5 documentary Prince Harry: The Troubled Prince.

He said: “Diana would always take the two boys to Highgrove in Gloucestershire.

On this particular occasion Diana was driving, I was sat in the front, William and Harry in the back.

“They’d clearly got off to a bad start because they were arguing before we’d even left.”

According to Ken, the boys’ nanny had to referee while they squabbled in the rear of the car.

Ken added: “Harry out of nowhere said: ‘William, one day you’ll be king, I won’t, it doesn’t matter therefore I can do what I like’.”

Their mother Princess Diana was said to be taken aback by the remark and questioned where Harry had got it from.

Now, his comments seem to ring true as William along with his wife Kate, Duchess of Cambridge are being primed to be future leaders of the Firm.

The Cambridges have also taken on more engagements as the 95-year-old Queen takes on fewer duties owing to her ill-health.

Due to fewer working royals including the departure of Meghan and Harry, the Cambridges, in particular, have taken on additional responsibilities and tackled some high-profile projects and campaigns over the past 12 months.
