Prince Harry doomed Meghan’s reputation after Duke of Sussex was overtaken by ‘anger’

Meghan Markle: Harry should 'helped a little more' says Seward

Prince Harry doomed Meghan Markle’s chances of succeeding in the UK, according to royal commentator Ingrid Seward. Speaking to Sky News, the prominent royal expert “slightly” blamed the Duke of Sussex for the controversy surrounding the couple in the last year. She claimed Harry is “so full of anger and so anti-media that he directed all his anger at the media”.

Ms Seward’s fiery remarks come on the first anniversary of the Harry and Meghan’s announcement to step down as senior working royals.

She claimed that Prince Harry could have protected his new wife’s reputation by “explaining” to Meghan how to sustain support from the British public.

The editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine said: “I think the one mistake that Meghan made is she didn’t embrace the British people in a way that perhaps if Harry had helped her a little more, she could have done.

“She could have said, look, I want you to see my baby but just not right now.”

She continued: “She could have had everyone eating out of her hand in a way that her late mother-in-law did, just by bringing people into her world.

“Instead, she shut people out of her world and that is where the rot began when people began to think this couple have no interest at all.”

Sky’s Gillian Joseph questioned whether Ms Seward was “laying the blame at Meghan’s feet when they acted as a couple”.

The royal commentator responded: “I’m actually putting the blame at Harry’s feet because I think Harry should have explained to her that this is what we do.

“He should have explained, ‘just look at what my mum did. This is what will win over these people.’

“But Harry is so full of anger, and so anti-media, that he directed all his anger at the media instead of putting that aside and directing his emotions towards the affection the British people felt for him.”

This comes as a source close to the couple claims that Prince Harry felt “isolated” in California during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Duke of Sussex moved to the US with his wife and son Archie last year after stepping back from royal duties.

An insider told People magazine: “It was incredibly isolating for Harry – to be so far from home when all of this was going on.

“It’s been a really tough year for him. Most people make adjustments to their lives slowly but for him, everything just went at once.”

However, the insider added: “Despite everything that has been going on this year, they don’t regret their move to the US; they love that they are able to focus on projects and causes that are important to them.”
