The birth of Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor on June 4 might already have helped heal the family rift as Prince Charles, who once allegedly rejected Harry’s phone calls, is now more open to conversation. A royal source told The Telegraph the Duke of Sussex and his father were in “regular contact” following the birth of Lili.

It is understood the father and son have been speaking frequently and that their relationship has healed somewhat following Prince Harry’s devastating truth bombs over the past months.

Back in March, Prince Harry revealed the strenuous relationship he had with his father – admitting he felt “really let down”.

Charles, 72, described his delight at welcoming a fifth grandchild during a visit to the Mini car factory in Oxford, saying it was “such happy news”.

In a touching tribute to the latest Royal addition, he explained how the development of electric cars was “in view of the legacy we bequeath to our grandchildren”.

Experts have predicted that the Prince of Wales is unlikely to meet his granddaughter any time soon.

According to reports, Charles met Archie a handful of times before he flew to North America in autumn 2019 – and the youngster has not been back to the UK since.

However, in the coming months, experts believe key moments in Lili’s life will be crucial olive branches to the Royal Family.

In an op-ed for the Daily Telegraph, royal author Angela Levin suggested the baby’s christening will be an important moment of healing.

She said: “A new arrival into the Royal Family is perhaps the next best chance for all sides to come together, meaning Lilibet Diana could unwittingly be the human sticking plaster that patches up the rift.

“When an innocent baby smiles, it’s hard not to smile back.

“But this may all depend on Harry seizing the opportunity to have his daughter christened in the UK.”

Prince Harry is set to return to the UK for the unveiling of a statue dedicated to his mother, Princess Diana, on July 1.
