Murder investigation after three die in Lincolnshire house fire
Fire investigators are still examining the scene after the blaze in the village of Kirton, near Boston, at around 3am on Tuesday.
Police have said it will take some time to formally identify the victims but they believe they know who they are.
They added that their families have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
The force is treating the fire as a domestic murder investigation and they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the case.
Superintendent Di Coulson said: “This is a tragic crime and our thoughts are with the family and friends of those involved.
“We are in contact with the families and will ensure that this is a thorough investigation as we try and understand what happened.”
The first floor and roof of the property were gutted in the fire.
Lincolnshire Police said it might take “a number of days” to determine how the fire started.
The murder investigation is being conducted by officers from the East Midlands Specialist Operations Unit alongside Lincolnshire officers.
Police are appealing to anyone with information about the occupants of the address to come forward.
They are also keen to speak to motorists who were driving in or near Pear Tree Road, Kirton, between 3pm on New Year’s Eve up to 3am on New Year’s Day to come forward.
