Meghan ‘not 100% invested’ in Invictus Games as Harry caught ‘reassuring’ her

Meghan Markle did not seem “100 percent invested” in some of the Invictus Games competitions and relied on Prince Harry to “reassure” her, a body language expert claimed.

The Duchess of Sussex flew out from her Montecito Tuscan-style villa on Monday to join her husband in Germany for the sixth edition of the Games in Düsseldorf.

She was quick to join him in celebrating participants, and helping Harry hand out medals to children invited to try out their skills in between events.

But body language expert Darren Stanton noted Meghan appeared “nervous” at times and her smiles appeared “inauthentic” at times.

Speaking to Daily Express US, Stanton said: “There was a nice moment where she was looking at Harry in the grandstand, which was a moment of pride for her, but I did see a few inauthentic smiles here and there.

“I would say it was to mask a few emotions, as she could have been feeling nervous. It’s almost as if she was here but not 100 percent invested.”

The pair were spotted holding hands through most of their public outings so far, and Harry appeared to never be too far away from his wife ever since she joined him in Düsseldorf.

Stanton noted that overall Meghan’s gestures and demeanour showed she is “proud” of Harry and he showed his commitment to supporting her in return.

The expert, speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, continued: “There were some sweet moments between them. We saw Harry with his arm around Meghan, reassuring her and talking to her.

“She had his full attention and they were cheering together. There were lots of genuine smiles from Harry, too.

“Harry comes across as very genuine and grounded, you can tell he’s happy to be there.”

Stanton however pointed out that the Duke and Duchess were far “less tactile” as Meghan opted to take a step back and let Harry shine.

He added: “Harry and Meghan were less tactile with each other at this event, whereas they’re normally holding hands, or Harry might kiss Meghan on the cheek.

“It feels a bit toned down. Harry’s heart is in the games, and everyone knows how important it is to him. It’s his baby, he was in his element.

“Meghan was there to support Harry, but I did see that she stepped back a bit to let him take the lead.”
