Meghan Markle warned meeting with family will ‘backfire’
Thomas Markle ‘desperate to reconcile’ with Meghan
Meghan Markle meeting her family would only “backfire” on the Duchess of Sussex, a public relations expert has told Express.co.uk.
Thomas Markle has been “desperate to reconcile” with his youngest daughter and repeatedly urged her to agree to meet with him and introduce him to her children, Prince Archie Harrison and Princess Lilibet Diana.
Meghan’s half-siblings, Samantha and Thomas Jr, have also called on their sister to end the feud with their father despite the widespread criticism they levelled at the Duchess over the years.
PR expert Mario Almonte slammed the “petty” swipes the Markles levelled at Meghan over the years and said she “can’t win” even if she were to continue ignoring them.
He said: “Reaching out to her family in an effort to work things out, either privately or through the press, would only backfire.
“The family would not respect Meghan’s request to discuss their problems away from the frantic curiosity of the tabloids.
“They would immediately leak to the tabloids any conversations Meagan may attempt with them.
“If Meghan responded to them publicly, it would only create a feeding frenzy among the tabloids, which would continue to amplify her family’s every petty criticism in the hopes of triggering additional responses from Meghan. So Meghan can’t win either way.”
Almonte claimed that Thomas Markle and his children have not shown any proclivity to end their feud with the Duchess of Sussex and would instead continue to portray themselves as “victims”.
Samantha Markle earlier this year attempted to challenge the Duchess in court as she accused Meghan of defaming her during her interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021. A Florida judge however dismissed the case earlier this year.

Almonte added: “There really isn’t much that Meghan Markle can do about her ‘family’ than to ignore them, as she has done up to now.
“Engaging them in conversation or countering their claims in the press would be a losing proposition because her family is not the kind that truly wants to resolve conflict.
“They are the type of people who always play the victims. They have a bottomless pit of grievances against Meghan – so no matter what she might do for them, it will never be enough.”
In their latest joint outing ahead of the Coronation, Meghan’s siblings once again laid into their sister for her treatment of their father.
The Duchess has been estranged from her dad Thomas since before her wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018.
The former lighting director, whom Meghan praised in a series of posts on her former social media accounts and blog, was scheduled to walk her down the aisle but was forced to pull out last minute.
He was discovered to have struck an agreement with the paparazzi to have staged pictures taken showing him preparing to travel to the UK for the ceremony. Thomas Markle later suffered two heart attacks and failed to attend the wedding.
In an exclusive interview with Channel 7 broadcast before the Coronation, Thomas admitted he was “lucky to be alive” after suffering a stroke last year.
He asked “how can I fix this?” as he renewed his appeal to Meghan to resume speaking to him before his death.
