Mass brawl breaks out in Glasgow beer garden

A mass fight broke out in a Glasgow nightclub on Saturday after customers threw bottles in a beer garden.

Staff at The Sanctuary Bar and Club rushed to intervene as a group of young men erupted into fighting in the city’s west end just after 6.30pm.

Video footage of the incident shared across social media showed objects being thrown and fighting between two groups.

In the video, customers are seen moving out the way as men continue throwing punches. Bouncers also struggled to keep the rival groups away from each other as the fighting continued.

Tensions had intensified between the two groups that at one point a large bucket of ice was thrown across a table.

Police were made aware of the brawl but no officers were sent, according to the BBC.

A spokesperson for the venue told the BBC: ‘Sanctuary staff and management are appalled by the behaviour of a small minority of customers who have shown no regard for the safety and wellbeing of those around them.

‘We will work with the police to ensure those responsible are dealt with appropriately and they will be barred from the venue.’

They added: ‘At any time this behaviour is unacceptable, but never more so when faced with the current situation.

‘Sanctuary is committed to providing a safe COVID-secure environment through digital temperature checks and two-metre distancing in-line with government guidance.’

Full track and trace data was collected from the venue and no one was badly hurt, reports said.
