The incident took place this morning at junction two on the eastbound stretch near Rochester, Kent. National Highways confirmed the M2 eastbound was closed shortly after 11am from J1 for Rochester to J3 for Maidstone.
Traffic has been held for several hours and emergency services remain at the scene.
An air ambulance was also deployed to the road side.
National Highways tweeted: “The #M2 remains closed eastbound between J1 – J3 for Police accident investigation.
“Please take care on approach.”
In a statement, Kent Police said: “Kent Police was called at 10.57am on Thursday 25 November 2021 to a report of a serious collision involving a motorbike on the coastbound carriageway of the M2 near junction 2.
“Officers are in attendance along with South East Coast Ambulance Service.
“The motorway is currently closed while the incident is attended to and motorists are advised to avoid the area.”
