Prince Philip’s “ranting” drove the Queen to “lock herself in her cabin”, according to a royal biographer. Robert Jobson joined ITV’s Royal Rota podcast to discuss the monarch’s relationship with her late husband. The commentator noted that the Duke of Edinburgh’s notorious temper could even get on his wife’s nerves.
Mr Jobson told listeners: “There was an anecdote that made me laugh.
“Once the Queen was aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia.
“Philip was ranting so much, shouting so much about something or other.
“So the Queen locked herself in the cabin.”

“She said, ‘I’m not coming out until he’s calmed down’.
“‘And I’m not coming out until he stops shouting’.”
The biographer recalled another interaction between the couple that was recorded in government archives.

He continued: “The Queen was shaking the hands of all the officials and doing what she does very well.
