Harry and Meghan blasted by fans for ‘laughable’ new Netflix project

Royal fans have taken to social media to address reports over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s suspected new project for Netflix.

Referring to the potential new project, one fan branded the idea as “laughable”, particularly due to the couple’s previous wish for privacy.

The couple have reportedly bought the rights to the best-selling novel, Meet Me At The Lake by Carley Fortune.

The novel is said to have captured Harry and Meghan’s imaginations, with them hoping to turn it into a Netflix production.

Themes in the book include a parent dying in a car crash, which bears resemblance to Harry’s tragic past with the death of his own mother in 1997.

In particular, due to the themes of the book, royal fans have criticised the Duke and Duchess of Sussex over their choice for their next business venture.

One fan wrote on social media: “Thought they just wanted privacy? It’s actually laughable.”

Another wrote: “This is getting to be a farce. This endless need for attention is exhausting. Why can’t they just enjoy their lives, their wealth, and most importantly their families?”

A third said: “Harry and Meghan buying the film rights to a novel about a car crash, parents dying, etc continues to follow a theme – they think they are a modern day [Princess] Diana.”

The news of the rumoured new project comes after a host of blows for the pair.

Last month came the end of their multi-million-pound deal with Spotify.

Since signing the dotted line in 2020, Spotify and Sussexes’ own company Archewell released a joint statement stating the end of the deal.

The statement confirmed the news, as well as stating their pride over the release of their one project – Meghan’s dozen-episode podcast series last year.
