Families give up and leave after queuing for hours to get into theme park

Hundreds of frustrated parents and kids waited for hours in a ‘chaotic’ theme park queue while ‘only two members of staff carried out temperature checks’.

Families gave up and went home from Chessington World of Adventures in Surrey after huge crowds of people gathered earlier today.

One person said the scenes were ‘absolute chaos’, with another saying he waited up to two hours in the queue without entering the park.

According to one man who queued up this morning, there were only two staff members doing temperature checks for the entire park.

Pictures show hundreds lined up waiting to get in as temperatures reached up to 23C.

One person said: ‘Absolute chaos. Queues you can’t see the end of, over an hour to get in. We’ve given up and are leaving with crying children.’

Another added: ‘I understand there is longer admission procedures but there is little or no customer service representatives to deal with the growing queues or the angry customers in the queues!’

Dad-of-three Mark Taylor was planning to visit the park with his children but said they didn’t even join the queue because it was so long when they arrived.

‘Staff were present and we subsequently opened another entrance to clear the queue as quickly as possible, while still carrying out our usual security and Covid checks, as well as handing out water.’
