Eagle-eyed fans spot sweet hidden gestures in official Coronation photos

Eagle-eyed fans have noticed some hidden details in the official portraits released by Buckingham Palace to mark King Charle’s Coronation. The portraits were taken by Hugo Burnand in the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace following the Coronation Service. Charles and Camilla wore their state crowns for the occasion, with fans noticing unique elements in the photos.

Kate’s diamond necklace

The Princess of Wales added a diamond necklace to her Coronation outfit for the official photos.

Kate was seen wearing Queen Elizabeth II’s George VI Festoon Necklace, which George VI commissioned for his daughter Princess Elizabeth in 1950.

The statement necklace features a three-strand diamond design containing 105 loose collet-set diamonds from the royal vault into a necklace, introduced into the crown collection by his mother, Queen Mary.

Sophie’s sweet gesture

Sophie held onto the arm of Princess Alexandra for the photos, with the Duke of Edinburgh holding onto her wrist.

The Honourable Lady Ogilvy, 86, has served as a bridesmaid at a number of weddings, but most notably the Queen’s wedding in 1947.

The King and Queen’s website still lists her as a working member of the Royal Family.

Camilla’s tribute to her beloved pets

In a solo picture, the train of her lengthy embroidered Robe of Estate showed a sweet nod to her two Jack Russells.

The outline of both of her pets, named Bluebell and Beth, was embroidered in gold thread at the bottom of her dress.

In addition to the personal dog figures, the white fabric was intricately embellished with other designs, including a variety of flowers, and the name of her grandchildren.

Kate’s tribute to the four stations

Kate wore a white ivory Alexander McQueen gown paired with a Jess Collett x Alexander McQueen headpiece.

Her regal robe came complete with intricate silver embroidery depicting rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock motifs to represent each of the four home nations.

Meanwhile, Kate also paid a subtle nod to Princess Diana with her jewellery choice.

She wore Diana’s pearl and diamond earrings, which she has been pictured wearing many times before in the past.
