DJ spits drink over packed crowd at Costa del Sol nightclub
A DJ has been forced to apologise after footage emerged of him spitting his drink over a crowd of revellers on the dancefloor of a Spanish nightclub.
Despite many parts of the world keeping their clubs shut due to concerns over spreading coronavirus, the clip shows the man – now identified as local DJ Fali Sotomayor – repeatedly swigging from a bottle and spitting out the contents.
He then passes the drink around for others to taste without much regard for social distancing measures that were apparently in place, during the incident which is believed to have happened in the Costa del Sol club on July 7.
Kokun Ocean Club in the holiday resort of Torremolinos was trying to distance itself from the controversy today after the video, started going viral after being posted to social media on Saturday.

Local tourism officials called it an ‘attack on public health’, as they continue to try to persuade the British government it is safe for people to travel to Spain.
A spokesman for the Malaga hotel association Mahos added: ‘This shows a totally negligent attitude in what is a pandemic.’
The DJ at the centre of the controversy, today apologised for what had happened.
Speaking on behalf of promoter Les Castizos, which he works for, the Malaga-born DJ said: ‘We accept total responsibility for this incident and are ashamed and sorry about what happened.
‘Kokun Ocean Club is in no way responsible for our actions and totally respected social distancing.’
Admitting he had acted ‘irresponsibly’ he added: ‘We feel indebted to the thousands of colleagues, artists, members of the public and other people who feel upset about what they’ve seen.’
Nightspots including discos have been linked to a huge number of new coronavirus cases in Spain, prompting regional governments around the country to close them or reduce their opening hours and the number of revellers who can be inside at any one time.
Only one of the party-goers seen in the clip dancing to the music is wearing a face mask, and even she was wearing it around her chin leaving her mouth and nose exposed.
Jose Alfonso Garcia commented: ‘They should close the place forever and put them in jail for a long time.’
The regional Andalucian government today confirmed it had launched an investigation into the incident.
Since last Sunday, British holidaymakers returning from Spain have had to self-isolate as part of a controversial new measure brought in following a spike of new Covid-19 cases centred in Aragon, Catalonia and Madrid.
Holiday resorts in areas like the Canaries, the Balearic Islands and the Costa del Sol are trying to persuade the British government to create ‘safe’ air bridges so tourists can continue to visit Spain without having to self-isolate when they return.
