The Duchess of Sussex marked the first anniversary of her clothing collection with Smart Works by taking part in a video call with three women who were helped by the charity. But readers on the Daily Express Facebook page expressed fury that Meghan is still using her royal title.

One wrote: “We don’t need your advice and your not a duchess.”

Another commented: “I am a Sussex girl she is no duchess of mine!”

A third fumed: “She’s not a duchess either.”

Another said: “Parliament needs to strip her of her Royal title ASAP! You don’t get to be a Royal and enter politics.”

A fifth wrote: “I thought they both wanted a quiet life.”

One more commented: “So sick of hearing about this irrelevant pair.”

Smart Works trains and dresses unemployed women for interviews.

Meghan’s clothing range for the charity was launched last September.

It included a blazer and trousers by Jigsaw, a tote bag from John Lewis & Partners, a dress from Marks & Spencer, and a white shirt by her designer friend.

For every item that was bought, another was given to help a woman get back into the workplace.

Speaking during the video call, Meghan said: “People can say that so much of Smart Works is about the clothes themselves, but it’s really not.

“All of that stuff is the exterior, but it’s what it does for you on the inside that ends up being the best accessory.

“Right? It’s the confidence, it’s what is built within, that is the piece that you walk out of that room with and walk into the interview with that will take you to the next layer of success.”

Meghan, 39, and Harry, 35, are living in the US after quitting royal duties.

The Queen’s grandson and the former actress plunged the monarchy into a period of crisis in January when they revealed plans to step back as senior royals.

It was later announced they would quit as working members of the Royal Family and no longer be known as HRH.

They officially ended royal duties on March 31.

The Sussexes have recently bought an £11 million home in celebrity hotspot Santa Barbara.

And earlier this month it was confirmed the couple has paid back the £2.4 million of taxpayers’ money used to renovate their UK home Frogmore Cottage.

This comes after the Harry and Meghan signed a lucrative deal with Netflix to make shows for the streaming service.
