‘Boring’ Meghan and Harry told to ‘give up and move back to UK’

Harry and Meghan will ‘struggle to rebrand’ says Schofield

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been branded “boring” and been told to “give up and move back to the UK” by a leading US celebrity blogger. The couple currently live in Montecito, California after quitting their roles as working members of the Royal Family three years ago. Since then, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have looked to forge their own careers, signing bumper media deals with Netflix and Spotify.

They starred in their own six-part documentary series on Netflix in December, while Meghan could reportedly bring back her Archetypes podcast for a second season.

But Perez Hilton, speaking exclusively to Page Six at Tao’s grand opening for Cathédrale at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, said: “Honestly, they need to give up and move back to the UK.

“I feel like it’s inevitable. I don’t mean this as an insult but they’re both boring. The only thing that makes them interesting is the family in the UK and all of that drama.”

Last week, it was revealed Meghan had signed a lucrative deal with Hollywood talent agency WME, which represents several high-profile celebrity clients including Rihanna, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Matt Damon.

This has fuelled speculation the she could be planning a return for the big screen having spent several years starring in hit US legal drama series Suits before she met Harry.

But Perez has warned: “In America, she and he are not royals to us. We’re not their subjects. They’re just celebrities and they have to play by the rules of celebrity.

“You have to work at it to maintain celebrity because the only way to monetize your celebrity is to maximize it and feed the machine.”

However, the podcast host admitted: “She’s hanging out regularly with Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, with Ellen DeGeneres, with Oprah [Winfrey]. It doesn’t get any more Hollywood than that.”

Despite that, he added: “It’s still fairly young and new. They’re in their honeymoon period, so to speak.

“I feel like they’ll end up moving back eventually because that would also be good for business for them even if they’re still not working royals.”

The media personality also warned: “They’re still calling themselves the Duke and Duchess but they hate the institution.

“They’re calling their daughter and son Princess and Prince but they hate the institution.

“I don’t dislike them, but I don’t like them either.”

The comments come with claims Meghan signed the bumper multi-million pound deal with Hollywood talent agency WME to make her a “power player” in Tinseltown.

The firm’s CEO, Ari Emanuel, has worked with acting royalty including Mark Wahlberg, Martin Scorsese and Charlize Theron.

One “highly placed” Hollywood insider told Page Six: “This deal is about making Meghan a power player in Hollywood.

“Even though she is, of course, an actress, this isn’t about movies or shows for Meghan to star in, it is about creating projects for her to produce – she wants to run the show.”

A source who knows Meghan and Harry said: “They need to find a way to make money – this is business.”

Another insider added: “Through the fact that Archewell (her company with Prince Harry) is now repped by WME it bolsters Harry and Meghan’s bid to become power players in the production arena.”
