Re “Fixing Subway-Speak So Every Rider Understands” (news article, Nov. 8):

One memorable subway ride, when the doors were blocked: A female conductor’s voice tersely said, “Don’t make me come back there!”

And so the doors were unblocked, and we were on our way.

In addition to revised wording for subway announcements, better word pronunciation would help improve riders’ understanding.

For years I wondered who this Bolling Greenbaum was, until I realized that I was on a Bowling Green-bound train.
