January 6 committee subpoenas ex-Donald Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani, three others
The House select committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot has subpoenaed ex-President Donald Trump’s longtime lawyer Rudy Giuliani and the legal team that filed lawsuits with conspiracy theories on the 2020 election.
In addition to Giuliani, the committee on Tuesday issued subpoenas for Jenna Ellis and Sidney Powell, two lawyers who pushed election fraud conspiracies. The committee also subpoenaed former Trump campaign adviser Boris Epshteyn, who worked with Giuliani at the Willard Hotel ‘command center’ after the election.
‘The four individuals we’ve subpoenaed today advanced unsupported theories about election fraud, pushed efforts to overturn the election results or were in direct contact with the former president about attempts to stop the counting of electoral votes,’ the committee’s chairman Bennie Thompson stated.
