BREAKING: One dead after ‘man with hammer’ storms Brit house – three arrested
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “Detectives from Staffordshire Police are investigating the death of a man in Stoke-on-Trent.
“Police were called to Wood Street, Longton, at 2.25pm this afternoon (May 15) following reports of a man armed with a hammer.
“On arrival a man had been detained. He was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital where he was sadly pronounced deceased.
“Three men from Stoke-on-Trent have been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in custody.
“Enquires are on-going, and we are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to call 101 quoting incident number 395 of May 15.
“The matter has also been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.”
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed one patient had been taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital.
“We were called at 2.42pm to Wood Street to a medical emergency.
“Two ambulances and a paramedic officer attended.
“We were called by Staffordshire Police.
“On arrival there was one patient, a man, who was in a serious condition.”
“He received specialist trauma care at the scene and was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital.”
